    Public Safety Officer

    Primary Responsibilities

    Responsible for performing variety of duties related to the protection of life and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, University rules and regulations, prevention off crime, preservation of public peace and apprehension of criminals. Ensure that buildings/gates are locked and unlocked, inspect buildings and vehicles, report all safety and security problems. Render assistance to persons as circumstances necessitate, perform motorist's assist, such as lockouts and jump starts, when requested.

    Minimum Education / Experience

    Two years college work in criminal justice or related field preferred. Experience in law enforcement or security.

    Special skills, knowledge and training

    M.C.O.L.E.S. Certification and valid Michigan Driver's License.

    Community Service Officer

    Education / Experience

    High school diploma. College course work in criminal justice or related field preferred. Experience in security preferred.

    Special skills, knowledge and training

    Valid Michigan driver's license needed. Good communication skills oral and written required.

    Auxiliary Officer (Detroit Mercy Â鶹APP)

    Primary Responsibilities

    Provide "eyes and ears" for the Public Safety Department. Auxiliary Officers alert the Police Officers and Community Service Officers to ongoing problems and potential ones.

    Education / Experience

    High school diploma. Applicant must be a student "in good standing" with the University. Criminal Justice majors or related fields are preferred but are not required.
